Week 1
Hello everyone! Our names are Luna and Neil, and we are working on a 2D top down racing game. We will be releasing updated prototypes every week until we have something resembling a finished product.
While brainstorming for this project, we came up with a multitude of ideas, some of which are elaborated on below:
3D platformer game with obstacle course type levels - we were uncertain how far we would be able to take this concept with our current skillsets.
2D racing game from a top down perspective - we believed that this idea had the most potential for growth, which is why it was chosen in the end.
Fishing game where you catch fish that get are harder to reel in over time - we did not think this game would be able to retain variety and freshness throughout as it progressed.
Our respective prototypes this week were based on the player controls, and the menu controls. For the player controls, we wanted to answer the question of if it would be possible to implement a drift. As for the menu controls, we investigated whether or not we could make a functional exit button that closed the program when clicked, as well as a back button in the main game that would bring the player back to the menu.
